When used properly, you can expect the range of your Hytera two way radio fleet to be extended by at least 50%.  The Hytera PD982i Portable Range Extender should be placed as close to the center point of your facility for maximum coverage. Once placed, the Hytera PD982i Range Extender will capture and rebroadcast your two way radio transmissions.

How much extended range should we expect with the Hytera PD982i Two way Radio Range Extender? Placement means everything with a Range Extender. We suggest putting the Hytera PD982i as close to the center of your facility as possible to get achieve maximum range benefits. Customers see an increase in range of 50% or more when the PD982i is placed in a good spot.

Can the PD982i be used as a two way radio in our fleet while being used as a Range Extender?  Yes, however the Hytera PD982i Range Extender works best when left in a the same spot long term.

Can I use multiple Hytera PD982i Series Two Way Radios to further increase the range of our two way radios?  No, we can’t “Daisy Chain” these units to extend the range even further. How does the Hytera PD982i act as a Repeater? Your Hytera PD982i will have the Single Frequency Repeater option enabled.  Your remaining Hytera Two Way Radios operating in Digital Mode will be programmed to recognize this feature as well.
